*- The above flag was officially adopted by the Northern Ireland parliament by the 1954 Emblems Act. The Act, which banned the Irish Tri-Color from government buildings, was repealed by the UK parliament in the 1980's to diffuse tensions. The current official flag of Northern Ireland is the Union Jack.
